There is Lactose in Artificial Sweeteners

Lactose in Artificial Sweetener

Did you know that many brands use lactose as a bulking agent in . The own brand Tesco, and Splenda.

Artificial Sweeteners contain lactose – who knew!!??

The little packets you see in cafes won’t have the ingredients. I’ll update these as I find them but if you know more please comment and let me know!

  • Tesco Own Brands
  • Splenda
  • Sweetevia? (The brand that EAT uses in the UK)
  • Canderel

I’m not sure about sweet and low – I will look for a large packet with ingredients next time i’m in a store they don’t list their ingredients on their site.

So if you’re still having a bad stomach on your black or soya coffee with sweeteners it may be the hidden lactose making you ill rather than the coffee or aspartame. (as i used to think it was!)

Personally I think there needs to be a change in the law to make sure even individual servings have a “contains milk” warning. There is literally no way to know this based on the packets you are given.

Let us know if this all suddenly makes sense in the comments!
