Does the contraceptive pill contain lactose

I was surprised this was brought up as a question as I was sure the answer would be no, why would they limit the people who can take birth control, but today we ask

Does the birth control pill (contraceptive pill) contain lactose?

Weirdly, yes, some brands do. In America more than places like the UK, but Cryselle, Femcon Chewable, Microgestin, Loestrin-24 FE and Nordette all contain lactose. You’ll need to see if it’s enough to effect you, and you may be able to take lactase pills at the same time and reduceget rid of any effects.

Which birth control pills are lactose free?

The following plls – Depo-Provera, Depo SubQ, Mirena, Nuva Ring, Ortho Evra are lactose free.

Please let me know in the comments below if you know a brand of birth control pill not listed here does or doesn’t contain lactose and we’ll get it added to the list.
