11 Lactose and Dairy Free Baking Kits

Sometimes you don’t want to bust out the full baking gear. Baking kits have their place in the kitchen and over the years the have got surprisingly good. What you might not realise though, is that a lot of the kits don’t contain dairy or milk. I’m not sure why. I assume they use ingredients that preserve better in boxes, and milk and butter don’t lend themselves well to that. Whatever the reason though – it work’s in our favour. Here are our top brands of baking kits and products that don’t contain dairy. All you typically need to add is egg, water, oil or your own milk (which you can substitute for lactose free or soy.)

Here are my top 11 dairy free baking kits, you can read more on each one below.

Betty Crocker

Chewy Choc Chunk Brownie Mix.

Chewy soft delicious brownies. Surprisingly good for a packet mix. Well worth getting, and awesome with our dairy free salted caramel on top.

Carrot Cake Mix

Another great little cake. And even the cream cheese product you get from Betty Crocker is dairy free.

Classic Vanilla Cake Mix

A simple sponge mix a great starting point for most cakes. You can put jam between, and make butter cream with dairy free butter. A simple classic for a reason

Sunny Lemon Cake Mix

I love lemon drizzle cakes. This one is light and tasty and quick to make. If you were missing lemon drizzle cake and want a dairy free one, get on this one!

Orange Drizzle Cake Mix

I haven’t tried this one but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be awesome. Like lemon drizzle but with orange I guess 🙂

Dairy Free Chocolate Fudge Icing and Strawberry Icings

There is also a dairy free cream substitute but I don’t have a picture of that yet. These dairy free icings aren’t sold as “dairy free” but if you check the packet you’ll see that they don’t actually contain any butter or milk. Awesome!

Aunt Bessie’s

There wasn’t a large range in tesco so I didn’t see any more Aunt Bessie’s products. But the lemon drizzle cake is dairy free. So that adds another delicious lemon drizzle cake to the list 🙂

Tesco Own Brand

Tesco Scone Mix

I think american’s call Scones Biscuits, so this is also a dairy free Biscuit mix too. But for us Brit’s – yummy traditional scones without dairy!

Tesco Lemon Drizzle Cake

A third lemon drizzle mix! No complaints here! More drizzle cake is very welcome.

Tesco Everyday Value Sponge Mix

Another great basic sponge recipe! Just add some jam and buttercream alternative and you’ve got yourself a simple Victoria sponge!

We got these from Tesco but the branded stuff can be bought in most UK and US supermarkets. If you’ve tried any packet mixes or know of any other brands we should add, let us know and we’ll add it.
